Career Coaching

Career coaching

This offer aims at postdocs, junior research group leaders as well as at junior- and tenure track professors who want to gain more clarity in planning their career.

Career coaching supports you in determining your professional location and goals as well as in sharpening your profile by reflecting on your personality. It is up to you to decide which topic you would like to work on, e.g. "Structuring and planning your academic career path", "Preparation for selection and appointment procedures", "How could I improve my rhetorical skills", "How to act successfully in committees", "Building networks" or "Which management style suits me best". For successful coaching, however, openness and curiosity for new perspectives should always be brought along.

As participant of our Career Coaching program you will choose a coach from our list of coaches according your interest. Your own coach suggestion is also welcome. Coaching sessions ideally take place as face-to-face meetings, but can also be conducted via phone or Skype if both sides agree to it.

The next round of Career Coaching will start February 2022 and lasts about 4-6 months. The number of possible coaching sessions may vary slightly depending on your choice of a respective coach and his/her hourly rate. After a first meeting with the coach of your choice you decide whether you want to work on your topics with this coach or switch to another coach. It is also possible to work with more than one coach during the program, especially when you are planning to work on different topics. In any case, we ask you to contact your graduate academy.

Before you start your Career Coaching, you will receive a short consultation on the process. It is possible to cover travel costs. However, this will reduce shorten your budget available for coaching. Alternatively, you can also pay the travel costs yourself.
