We are the central service and coordination point for career advancement and competence development of young academics, including all doctoral students, postdoctoral students, junior group leaders and junior professors at Clausthal University of Technology.

We offer qualification programmes for the acquisition of interdisciplinary skills and for career advancement, career and information events for the promotion of young scientists, support in the quality assurance of doctoral procedures as well as advice and service for young scientists.

We want to support young scientists in pursuing their own suitable career path and provide them with the necessary methodical tools. It is important to us to draw attention to the acquisition of further interdisciplinary competences and to point out alternative career paths.

Goals and Tasks

The aim of the Clausthal University of Technology Graduate Academy is to promote the quality of doctorates across disciplines and faculties. Together with the faculties, the existing structural doctorate programs and other institutions of structured funding, the framework conditions for supervision standards and a high professional education developement are created and successively further developed. With its offers, the Graduate Academy wants to increase the attractiveness of doctorates at Clausthal University of Technology and to contribute to the competition for outstanding young scientists. 

The tasks of the Graduate Academy include in particular:

• the development and coordination of a cross-disciplinary qualification programme that takes into account equal opportunities and compatibility in the promotion of young researchers
• promoting the internationalisation of doctoral training
• supporting the faculties in the optimal supervision and qualification of doctoral students, taking into account the different subject cultures and defining guidelines
• support and advice of the faculties in the establishment of structured doctoral programmes, graduate schools, graduate colleges and in the further development of framework conditions for individual doctorates.
• the consideration of the concerns of external doctoral candidates
